Sox Win!
I was mad at Shaughnessy et al yesterday. Today I am just kinda laughing at the guy. It is our God-given right, as Boston Red Sox fans, to cheer on and support a 95-win playoff team every season.
Remember what Theo Epstein told us Sunday night as he stood on the Fenway lawn before Game 4 of the Carnage by Lansdowne Street: “We’re not going to change our approach and all of a sudden try to build an uberteam and all of a sudden win now at the expense of the future.”
There you have it. Let’s not win now. This should help you enjoy the remaining 36 games of 2006. Just relax and check out Dustin Pedroia’s footwork around second base. It’s not about 2006 anymore. It’s about the future.
Bruce Allen puts it best…
Dan Shaughnessy treats one and all to another sarcastic and embarrassing column written prior to last night’s game. Hope the red wine from the hotel bar was good last night Dan, after all, you are in California.
Oh dear god, i am so sick of hearing Theo’s supposed “greatness”! At this rate the only thing us Red Sox fans will hear from Theo until the day he gets killed is that “we have to think about the future and let our present burn in hell”… He sucks man! Look at how he dismantled our awesome 2004 team! Damon, Pedro, Lowe, Cabrera, Nomar…what happened to them? Theo just had to sacrifice all these great players for MONEY! MONEY that we HAVE! Where the hell does all the money the red sox make go to? OUR DAMN MANAGEMENT!
Damon left as a free agent while Theo was not running the show. Pedro kept getting the Sox to offer more money, then left once the Mets gave him exactly what he wanted (more than he’s worth, IMO). Lowe was inconsistent over his last year-plus in Boston, and he’s looked horrid with the Dodgers. Cabrera played exceptional for the three months that he was in Boston but has been average since going to the Angels. Nomar was one unhappy S.O.B. and getting rid of him proved to be a god-send if you recall.
I’m not saying that Theo is a god – he’s not – but at least get your facts straight.
come on if you think theo epstein wasn’t running things when damon left you are dummer than a box of rocks , that was all staged for to cover theo’s dumb ass and the media bought everyone should boo epstein the next time his ass is in fenway , looks like damon was telling the truth
