Meaningless

The third best player on the Twins edged Derek Jeter for the MVP award today.  I have been a vocal critic of awards voting over the years, but this is an Andre Dawson-style sham.

I am sure these guys will have plenty to say.

I don’t have that huge a problem with it. He carried them from June on. I don’t think they make the playoffs without him.

I also wouldn’t have voted for him either, but I think it was really just that close. I like to think somehow it was them saying to the managers, wowah there guys Jeter isn’t THAT good with the glove.

    The Fall of Cone:

Forget every other candidate and just focus on Joe Mauer, Morneau’s very own teammate.

Without going into too much detail, I just don’t know how you value the 1st Baseman with a slug-biased 140 OPS+ over the catcher with the on-base-heavy 144 OPS+.
