I couldn’t agree more. The Sox should’ve pulled the trigger. Barring injuries, that would’ve set them up for the next couple of years (at least) with a rotation including Santana, Beckett, Matsuzaka, and Bucholz. While I’d take Lowrie over the jackass that currently plays ss and Ellsbury over Crisp, I’d much prefer the best left-handed pitcher since Randy Johnson was alive than the two kids.

And for the record, if Lester, Ellsbury, and Lowrie are what Minnesota desired, Epstein should have jumped on it. I’d be fine with Coco in CF this year.

I’m hearing that Kennedy, Cabrera, and a non Hughes/Joba prospect was on the table (Jackson? Horne?). Still, even if it was Wang…I’m very, very surprised (and relieved) they didn’t pull the trigger. I understand Cash has taken great pains to change the philosophy of the team, but turning down that deal seems unreasonable, from an outsider’s POV at least.
